Who is it for?

No formal requirements but students might find it useful if they have already completed qualifications in a relevant area at Level 3. It is designed for someone who works with no support and supervision. It is aimed at learners who work as part of a team and ensure the provision of information and resources to others. It is suitable across a wide variety of sectors including NHS Trusts, educational institutions, government departments, charities and the private sector.

Qualification

You will be allocated a personal assessor and supplied with all the necessary reading and assessment materials. Your assessor will provide you with personal tutorial support at pre – arranged times. In addition, there will be personal assessment achieved through a variety of methods including observation in the work place, witness and testimonies and professional discussion.

Course content

To achieve this qualification learners must achieve a minimum total of 39 credits. 20 credits must be achieved from the mandatory units, and 19 credits from the optional units.
27 credits must be selected from Level 4 units.

Mandatory Units:
1. Manage and be accountable for own performance in a business environment.
2. Evaluate and improve own performance in a business environment.
3. Support the purpose and values of an organisation.
4. Support sustainability in a business environment.
5. Assess, manage and monitor risk in a business environment.
6. Communicate in a business environment.

Optional units

Optional Units: There are 44 units to choose from.
Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/ examination, it is expected that all students will enter for the qualification.

Course Delivery and assessment

Assessment is by production of a personal Portfolio of evidence demonstrating understanding and application of the NVQ 4 Performance criteria.
